Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Either inattention or hyperactivity may be present, or both may occur. Inattention: The child/adolescent has a hard time paying attention, does not seem to listen when spoken to, and often makes careless mistakes in chores or homework assignments. Hyperactivity: The child/Adolescent talks excessively and has a tendency to interrupt and intrude on others conversations. Furthermore, hyperactive individuals have a difficult time sitting still for long periods of time and seem unable to play quietly. These behaviors seem to become more recognized when the child begins to attend school; they are unable to withstand the long hours of classroom seating and structure.
