Natasha Schnell, PhD, LCPC, NCC

Dr. Natasha Schnell is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. She has a passion for guiding individuals and couples through life’s joys and challenges.

Dr. Schnell’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English and art history from Lawrence University, a Master of Science in Education in Counseling and a Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision, both from Northern Illinois University. Her commitment to staying at the forefront of her field is evident in her continuous pursuit of knowledge and professional development. In addition to working as a counselor, Dr. Schnell is also the Director and faculty at a prominent local university and has been teaching graduate courses in counseling for the past 20 years.

Her professional interests encompass a wide range of topics, including life and career transitions, relationship exploration, conflict management, grief and loss, caregiver support, anxiety, depression, stress management, self-esteem, sexual orientation and gender identity, infertility, pregnancy loss, pre-postnatal mental health, and chronic illness. Dr. Schnell uses a variety of therapeutic approaches, primarily focused on building a strong therapeutic relationship through empathy, compassion, and deep understanding, where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to change. She encourages clients to fully engage and take ownership of the counseling process – she works collaboratively with her clients, fine tuning her approach with each client, to best address their unique needs.

Dr. Schnell welcomes individuals and couples aged 18 and above. She is currently accepting new patients in the Convention’s Health Arlington Heights location.

Beyond her professional interests, Dr. Schnell finds joy in traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with her family and pets.

A guiding philosophy for Dr. Schnell is encapsulated in the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Learn as if you will live forever, live like you will die tomorrow.”
