Spravato for Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD)

Spravato is a twice weekly, FDA approved nasal spray designed specifically for those who are experiencing treatment resistant depression. Spravato has been proven effective for adults with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) that have had an inadequate response to 2 or more oral anti-depressants. It is used in conjunction with a new or increased dose of a current oral anti-depressant.

Treatment

While Spravato is self-administered, patients are required to come in to Conventions Psychiatry twice weekly to administer usage under staff supervision. Patients must be also be monitored in office for two hours after each administration. This is to ensure safety and allow our certified medical professionals to assist with any side effects that may occur. 
 
Patients must be driven home after each treatment.
 

Side Effects

Most common side effects include:
  • Sedation
  • Dissociation
  • Nausea
  • Increased blood pressure

Spravato is not to be used in those with a history of bleeding in the brain, aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, substance abuse, or pregnancy.
